Lions and Tigers and Bears…Oh My! A Safari Baby Shower

As some of you know, fellow HAP blogger Stef is pregnant with her first child.  Katie and I got together to throw her a baby shower for close friends. We knew her nursery was a safari theme, so we decided to throw her a “Lions and Tigers and Bears…oh my!” themed shower.

The invitations were created by Katie and set the tone for the adorable party.

The table was set with burlap fabric and a tiger print runner, which we picked up at a fabric store and left unfinished for a rustic feel. Silverware was wrapped in a napkin and tied with coordinating ribbon.

Guests snacked on basil chicken club sandwiches, turkey and cranberry paninis, a mixed green salad and exotic fruit skewers.  All food was served in wood or rustic platters and labeled with place cards also designed by Katie.

Guests enjoyed a tropical punch that was mixed with either champagne or ginger ale.

For dessert, we had Chai Cupcakes with Vanilla Bean Frosting and sugar cookie leaves.

As party favors, everyone was invited to join in the fun of a candy buffet!  The ladies filled spice shaker jars with various green and brown candies to match the decor.  Candies were set out in vases and apothecary jars adorned with raffia and “Lions and Tigers and Bears” theme tags that matched the invitations.

We all had such an amazing time putting this baby shower together!  Stay tuned to meet the newest member of the Haute Apple Pie family!

This is so adorable! I love the attention to details. I think it could also be used for a child’s birthday party! What little one doesn’t love stuffed animals or the zoo?

  2. Adorable!! So creative. Any plans to share your cupcake recipe? They sound and look divine!

    • Katie

I will soon! I’ve had multiple requests for the recipe for these cupcakes and for my dopplebock beer cupcakes. Looks like I’m going to have to sneak a cupcake post in coming up. 🙂

Yes! Do share your cupcake recipes… My “Stitch N Bitch Sisters” have been asking for them! I host the group in March and it would be fun to serve them. Do you have any that feature Irish Creme?

Planning a babyshower for October 29th and my girlfriend LOVES this theme. Where did you purchase the stuffed animals, candy and fabric?
    -Admirer in MA.

@Nelly – Yay! The fabrics are from JoAnn Fabrics. The Whoppers and Raisinettes we bought multiple boxes of at the grocery store and the jelly beans we got at a local candy store. Unfortunately, the stuffed animals were ones that the three of us or our kids had at home so I can’t help you there but I would check out a toy store for something similar! Good luck!!
